RESUMING their second innings at 0/3 from the previous week in round 10 of WDCA 1st XI cricket, Greta was a vastly improved batting side following their total of 87 in the first innings.
In a workmanlike manner, the Greta batsmen were relatively untroubled by the Delatite bowlers and were eventually dismissed for 170 from 70 overs leaving Delatite the impossible task of making 178 runs from only five overs.
Once again the Delatite attack was heroically led by captain Matt Stevenson who took 4/32 from 21 overs.
Ross Brown (2/21) and Lachlan Millen (2/13) also bowled well in an effort to stem the flow of runs from the Greta batsmen.
A feeble batting performance on day one and a distinct lack of usual firepower from unavailable and injured regular bowlers did not help Delatite’s quest for a victory that would have surely cemented their position in the top four of the competition’s A grade ladder.
Delatite, in search of some extra batting points, batted in their second innings to be 0/62 from just five overs.
