ROAD trip wins, especially tight ones, can turn around a season, but it was not to be for the Mansfield Eagles, who will have to wait yet another week to arrest their losing streak.

The Eagles made the trip – the longest in the Goulburn Valley Football League – to Echuca last Saturday only to fall short by five points.

It was the third straight close loss for the Eagles who, without playing anywhere near their best footy and with key players on the sidelines week after week, are toiling hard without any reward.

Echuca started the match well on top early, but failed to put away their chances with double the inside 50s and triple the scoring shots at the quarter time break.

Scanning the scene as the second quarter began, one stark distinction – and a problem for Mansfield – was the height differential.

Just about any one of Echuca’s on-ball division could’ve been their ruckman.
