MANSFIELD Eagles headed off on their longest road trip to Echuca on Saturday and the boys knew that a win was a must to keep our season on the up and try to consolidate our position in the six.

Benny Vogelzang took a big grab early and a smart handball to a teammate running past meant we kicked the first goal and really had all the forward entries in the first seven to eight minutes of the game.

Echuca settled better kicking the next four goals winning the one on one contests, spreading hard into space, creating plenty of scoring chances, and maybe should have been further in front at the half time break.

Billy Chiller played his best game for the year holding the backline together.

He has such a cool head, never panics and rarely makes a bad decision.

Guy Taylor started forward but went back to steady the ship.
