BONNIE Doon Bombers travelled to Glenrowan on Saturday and were surprised with how well the ground had held up, considering the amount of rain that the district had been subject to.
Doon was expecting a hard game against one of the competition’s top sides, but was going in with good form having won six of the last seven games against good sides.
It was a hard physical contest all day as both sides tried to penetrate dogged defences.
Both backlines did an excellent job in thwarting forward advances and the game was mainly played between the two 50 metre arcs.
Will Hemming and Heath Fidock got early goals for Bonnie Doon and were able to go into the quarter time break a goal down.
This was the pattern for the rest of the day.
