ST Mary’s Primary School held a special day last week to raise money for a school in Cambodia.

Inspired by a talk given at the school by Ric Pollard, who was instrumental in setting up the Cambodian school, the SRC decided to help out.

Prime movers of the project were SRC members Charlotte Howie and Grace Wood, who devised the plan for all students to dress up as a character, animal or person starting with the letter “C”.

All students were asked to donate a gold coin on the day, all money going to support the Cambodian school.

Every child at the Cambodian school can be provided with breakfast for a month with a donation of only $80, and St Mary’s is expecting to keep the school in breakfasts for a considerable number of months to come.

The total raised by the children for this effort came to $556.50.
