Crackdown on illegal spotlight shooting

VICTORIA Police officers from Mansfield, Jamieson and Woods Point are currently focusing on illegal spotlighting and deer hunting in the local area and will be working with the Game Management Authority.

Recently a 19-year-old Yarck man was interviewed and is to be charged on summons with several offences.

Police seized his firearm, ammunition and spotlighting equipment.

The man’s firearms licence has also been suspended.

Police also recently processed other persons for spotlighting and they too have had their firearms seized and licences suspended.

“Police are keen to hear of any instances of deer hunting or spotlighting in order to combat illegal activity,” Senior Constable Dan Harrop said.
