Country girl gives back to the land she loves

AFTER her family, Kerstie Lee’s great loves are community and the land.

From an early age, her interests lay in nurturing professions.

She completed a four year degree in occupational therapy and worked in rehab at Rosebud Rehabilitation Centre.

“After two years there, I was offered a position working with people with disabilities – I was very excited, finishing up my old job on Friday ready to start the new one the next Monday,” she said.

Fate intervened that weekend, however, and the carer became the cared for after a horrendous car accident left her with a broken back.

“I was lucky,” Kerstie said.

“No damage to the spinal cord meant that I would walk again.”

She was out of action for six months, three of which were in a full body brace.
