THE Mansfield and District Basketball Association held the mixed teams grand final last Wednesday night with Timbertop taking on Merrijig.

Timbertop went in favorites, having won all of their games during the season despite an often mixed personnel line-up.

Merrijig, however, had consolidated over the finals and came charging out in the first half taking Timbertop somewhat by surprise.

Billy Chiller hit six points for Merrijig and was answered by six from Phil Bohum, and Guy Taylor tipped in four for Timbertop while Damian Groome replied with four for Merrijig.

In a fast and tight game with strong defence from both sides the half time score was a low 13 to 10.

With continued enthusiastic defence from Andrew Mortlock and Billy Chiller, Amy Jewson and Sally Kelly only managed to score five and four respectively in the second half for Timbertop.
