Mansfield’s BMX fraternity in action

TRACK ATTACK: Mansfield’s BMX racers (from left) Hayden Fletcher, Adam Baker, Finn Baker and Harrison Fletcher.

THE Mansfield Mt Buller Cycling Club’s newest and youngest member seven-year-old Finn Baker made his BMX racing debut last weekend.

Finn along with his dad Adam, and brothers Hayden and Harrison Fletcher, raced in the first two rounds of the BMX Victoria’s Track Attack, a series taking in six race meetings over nine days around Melbourne’s BMX tracks.

First round was held at the Frankston BMX track on Saturday, and the second round at the Lilydale BMX track on Sunday, with just on 400 riders each day including competitors from all over Australia, NZ, the USA and France.

Finn raced in the ‘7 sprocket’ class, and loved every moment on the track, gaining confidence each race riding side by side with seven other riders around him.

“The smile on his face was priceless, and he seems to be hooked on this great healthy physical sport,” said MMBCC member Paul Fletcher.

Adam, also making a return to the BMX track after some 15 years, raced in the 40-49 men’s class.
