RECENTLY, local speedway rider Max Fricke finished in fourth position at the completion of the four round senior Australian Speedway Championship Series after heading into the final round in second position.
Fricke rode consistently throughout the first three rounds including a second place in the third round at Undera Park Speedway in Victoria which saw him head into the final round challenging for second place overall.
He again rode consistently at Kurri Kurri in NSW winning two races and placing second in two others prior to suffering a mechanical failure in his final heat while in the lead.
He managed to complete that heat in third place but dropping those two points saw him finish the series in joint third place on points but was relegated to fourth on a count back.
“Heading into the series I was hoping for a top five place so I should be happy with fourth but it’s pretty disappointing when I was riding really well and had the potential to challenge for second only to finish off that way,” said Fricke.
“So many things can go against you in speedway and sometimes luck plays a big part and this kind of thing can happen to anyone so I just have to move on and look forward to the next meeting.”
