IF YOU CAN MAKE IT THERE: Caitlyn Leggett on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City during her university stay.

LOCAL Caitlyn Leggett has found her life’s calling – journalism.

So much so that she has just returned from six months at university in the United States having gained a scholarship from La Trobe University.

Born in Mansfield in 1993, she attended Mansfield Secondary College from year 10.

During her year 11 studies, Caitlyn took up a School Based Apprenticeship with the Mansfield Courier.

“I was attracted to it because I liked writing and also photography,” she explained.

“I completed the apprenticeship over 2010/11 and then my VCE.

“Then came a gap year with three jobs – the Courier, the bakery and Foodworks – before a month’s travel in Europe.”
