Lots to like about U14 footballers

LAST Friday night the Mansfield under 14 footballers travelled to Barr Reserve in Wangaratta to open the season under lights.

LAST Friday night the Mansfield under 14 footballers travelled to Barr Reserve in Wangaratta to open the season under lights for the first time ever at that venue.

The boys have been jumping out of their skins all year in anticipation, so this day couldn’t come quick enough for them.

The Eagles won the toss on a ripper night and kicked with a slight breeze in the first quarter.

While the boys didn’t score heavily in the opening quarter, they showed some promising signs.

Bustling Patty “Bull” Smith gave Mansfield first use of the ball in the middle while Joel Sanford and Luke Murray were proving to be more than a handful in the clearances.

When the ball went forward Zac Tanner and Angus Murray showed plenty, as did the mozzie fleet in Nick Scales and Oscar Rathbone who nailed the first major of the season for the Eagles.
