YOUNG Mansfield skate wizard Hayley Wilson competed in the Australian Girls Skate Australia street skate competition on Saturday in Sydney.
In an outstanding performance, 13-year-old Wilson, the youngest competitor in the open division, took first place, defeating World Champion Bowl rider Poppy Starr Olsen who placed second, and 25-year-old ninth world seed Kat Williams who placed third.
Riding for her sponsor Simply Skateboarding, Wilson could not believe it when it was announced she had come first.
As a result of her victory, Wilson is now ranked Australia’s number one female street skateboarder.
Girls skate Australia hosted the event South of Sydney, with the competition attracting more than 40 girls and women in two divisions – the under 12s and open women’s division.
The competition comprised of two heats and a solo run on an advanced street and bowl circuit.
