Cricket in the shire has some news

THERE is good and bad news for the cricketers of the Mansfield Shire this week.

THERE is good and bad news for the cricketers of the Mansfield Shire this week.

First the good news – Delatite Cricket Club has a new home association.

As from the 2015/16 season the Delatite Cricket Club will be playing in the Wangaratta District Cricket Association competition.

“Though they had a requirement of three grades, we applied with two and were accepted,” Delatite club president Ken Cousins said.

“I don’t know what discussions went on – maybe the fact that we have our u14s and u16s already there might have helped.

“The application is on the basis of home and away matches, but I gave the promise of flexibility in our first year if that would help our application.”

This means that Delatite will be doing more travelling next season, but with two sides in Benalla and some in Wangaratta, it will not be excessive for the boys from the shire.
