Mansfield Shire budget passed with amendments

BUDGET submissions made by three concerns in Mansfield enjoyed some success at the recent meeting of Mansfield Shire Council on June 16.

BUDGET submissions made by three concerns in Mansfield following release of the 2015/16 draft budget enjoyed some success at the recent meeting of Mansfield Shire Council on June 16.

Beolite Village sought an exemption from shire rate increases in excess of the CPI, as under Victorian Government legislation residents of a retirement village cannot be charged more than the CPI when rates are reclaimed by the organisation.

At a special meeting in May 2013 council declared a rebate to Beolite Village based on its provision of a community benefit by making its facilities available for use by the community.

At its June 16 meeting council allowed this rebate would continue to apply in 2015/16.

A submission from Mansfield Bins and Skips requested an increase in the waste management charges proposed by council for 2015/16, based on a view of what similar facilities charge.

Council agreed to increase the charges from those of the previous year by CPI plus one per cent as it had done previously, and additionally rounded up charges to the nearest dollar.
