The long trip ends with Eagles’ win

BREAKING FREE: Jamie Sheahan looks for an opening as Brant Anselmi (left) and Mark Jones follow his progress.

THIS is the time of year when Eagles supporters pack the thermos, a packed lunch and maybe a sleeping bag and head off on the longest road trip in the GVFL, to Echuca.

However, the trip home would have been much sweeter after a 34 point win over the Murray Bombers on Saturday.

It was a far cry from the road trip to Rochester the previous round.

“In the seniors we went over with a must win approach to keep our finals hopes alive,” senior coach Simon Dolling said.
“As well, the boys were keen to atone for last week.”

The Eagles took hold of this game early and kept the pressure on for the rest of the match.

“In what turned out to be a scrappy game, we managed still to play some really good footy at times, enough to get the four points,” Dolling said.
