MANSFIELD Community Bank presented funding grants totalling $22,800 to various local groups last week as part of their six monthly community grants program.
Since its inception, the bank, thanks to shareholders and customers, has awarded $375,000 in grants, of which every cent has gone into local community projects.
Bank manager Mat Currie presented certificates to nine organisations, plus a community leadership scholarship to one lucky individual.
Organisations and their projects which were successful with their grant applications were Arts Council Mansfield $3000 for Spring Arts 2015; Merton Landcare Group $1000 for bird nesting boxes; A Third Hand $1000 for Mansfield Half Marathon and Fun Run; First Mansfield Scouts $2000 for camping equipment; Beolite Village $5000 for ‘Bridging the Generations’ Bridge project to The Farmhouse; CWA $5000 seed funding for kitchen upgrade; Mansfield Kindergarten $500 for Earth Kinder program; Mansfield Secondary College $500 for cycleology project; and Up2Us Landcare Group $600 for National Tree Planting Day.
An individual sponsorship of $4200 was also awarded to Renee Leary who has undertaken the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program, a 10 month program to promote leadership in the North East area.
The program has 25 people from North East Victoria who will undertake various activities over the 10 month period, including three retreat weekends, skills days, and community learning days.
