IT wasn’t hard to raise a sweat at this year’s Mansfield Fun Run, with even the early half-marathon runners encountering hot conditions right from the 7.30am start.
Organised by A Third Hand, with all proceeds going to the Mansfield Hospital, it was a terrific family atmosphere with races to suit every age and ability.
In the feature Half Marathon event, Davina Calhaem from Jamieson took first place and 40+ category winner in the women’s race, while Tristan Mioni won the men’s, from son and father combination Tynan and David Mims, each winning their respective category.
Another local, Ross Hopkins, took out the 10km event, chased home by the horde of Timbertop students in the race.
In the 5km race, young Sam Guppy put in a huge performance to come third overall behind winner Oscar Fowles, while Saskia Nannes won the female race.
Plenty of eager young faces, tomorrow’s running stars, took to the 2km races, with $1000 up for grabs to the local primary school with the highest proportion of runners to total enrolments.
