MELBOURNE Park is again the venue for the 2016 Australian Open in January, the first of the four tennis grand slams on the world circuit.
Almost all the world’s top 100 men’s and women’s players will be fighting it out, and joining them on court will be Mansfield boys Jem Davies and Tynan Mims who have again been selected in the ballkids squad.
For Jem this will be his third appearance, while Tynan is lining up for his second time.
Both boys are expecting to be doing the base line job, although Tynan is hoping he might get a few turns on the net which he says is harder work but more interesting.
While the Australian Open main draw commences on Monday, January 18 to Sunday, January 31, both boys start on Monday, January 11 with the qualifying rounds for the men and women, so it’s a hectic three weeks ahead.
Looking smart in their green tops and navy pants, a change from the orange of last time, you can keep an eye open for them on the TV or live if you are going to the Open, where you will see them rolling balls, fetching towels, and attending to the players on court.
