Home grown entrant in cattleman’s cup – almost

LOCAL RIDER: Mason Tait will ride for the home crowd when he competes in the 2016 Cattleman’s Cup this weekend.

ALTHOUGH he no longer lives in Mansfield, Mason Tait is most certainly the closest thing we have to a home grown entrant in the prestigious 2016 Mountain Cattleman’s Cup.

Held each year as part of the Mountain Cattlemen’s Annual Get Together, the overall winner’s trophy is a coveted prize – and one Mason plans to have a good go at.

Mason, a former Mansfield Eagles ruckman and horse breaker, has just relocated to Myrtleford after a stint working on a cattle property in Inverell, New South Wales.

But he will proudly fly the Mansfield flag when he competes this weekend.

“I’m really excited to be coming home to compete at the Cattleman’s,” he said.

“I’ve put three months of hard work into my new mare, Cowgirl, and want to show her off to the best of her abilities.”
