Golf in the slower lane

EASTER is often a time to draw breath and relax and enjoy some time out, and that perhaps applies to our ladies golf as well.

With some big events behind us – our bowl, most of the pennant and our open day, the Easter week has been blissfully free of much organisation and was time for our ladies captain and others to just sit back and enjoy golf without too much stress.

Our week started with just six ladies venturing out on Tuesday with nine holes off the back and the winner with a very nice 17 points was Pam Abbott.

Not far behind was Kerri Nicol with 16 points to be runner up.

On Wednesday, it was the second qualifying round of the Silver Spoon GA event, and Linda Terry enjoyed some relaxing golf, after a busy time with NEDGA duties, and had a great round with nett 71 to take the win overall and for A Grade.

Runner up in A Grade was Gayle Wells, also 71, followed by Lyn Holland with 72.

In B Grade, Kerri Nicol continued to shine with nett 73 and runner up was Glenis Skinner with nett 74 on a countback to Susan Kinloch.

Line balls for the day went to Sue Crow 72 and Kylie Egan 73.

Nearest the pins went to Linda Terry on the 3rd, Kylie Egan on the 7th, Margie Franke–Williams second on the 9th, Nicki Cooper on the 16th and Sheryl Sargent 3rd on the 18th.

Gayle Wells had a great day putting with just 24 putts.

On Easter Saturday, all the ladies opted to catch up with friends and family and skip golf, which was quite understandable after the last few very busy weeks.

Next Wednesday, however, it is back to it, with the qualifying for the Doris Chambers foursomes, so if anyone doesn't have a partner yet, please consult the timesheet or talk to Sheryl.
