IN true autumn fashion, the week just gone provided quite a lot of opportunities for the ladies to travel around and represent our club throughout the district, and the results were outstanding.
Our week kicked off on Monday with both Pennant and the NE Vets round at Benalla.
Firstly to pennant, where our Div 1 team of Andrea Marsden, Sheryl Sargent, Gayle Wells, Nicki Cooper and Sue Parsons had a great 4–1 win against Wodonga at Bright.
Our Div 2 and Div 3 teams both had close 3/2 losses against Commercial Albury and Yarrawonga respectively.
Next week sees the Div 1 and 2 teams heading to Thurgoona and Yarrawonga while Mansfield Div 3 hosts and has a bye at home.
A good contingent as always attended the Marysville Bowl on Thursday and we were well represented among the prize winners again.
Winner of A Grade was Sue Crow, runner up in B Grade was Lyn Poulson and third in C Grade was Katie Pilbrow with a wonderful score of 34 points in her first ever Bowl – not bad for someone who has only been playing golf for four months.
Back at home, seven ladies squeezed in nine holes on Tuesday and the win went to new member Chris Sullivan with 16 points – welcome Chris.
Kerri Nicol was runner up with 15.
On Wednesday, six girls were off on their own jaunt to Cape Schanck and The Dunes, leaving 22 players in the Summer Cup stableford round.
It was fantastic to see another lady who hasn't been playing golf for too long, Robyn Bridgewater, taking the win with 37 points on a countback in the overall standings, from someone on the other end of the golfing scale with many years of experience, Millie Cumming.
Robyn and Millie each won their respective B Grade and A Grade.
Runner up in A Grade was Linda Brook with 36 and in B Grade Marion Sargeant with 35.
Third in A Grade was Nicki Cooper and in B Grade, once again Katie Pilbrow shone, both with 34.
Line balls went to Sheryl Sargent and Jenny Koraus and nearest the pins to Nicki Cooper, Meg Broomfield and Katie Pilbrow.
Finally on Saturday, it was time for our March Monthly Medal, sponsored by Phudleys. Winner with a lovely score of nett 71 was Lyn Poulson.
Runner up was Sue Parsons nett 72 and third Glenis Skinner nett 73.
Line balls went to Gayle Wells 74, Jenny Koraus 75 and Sue Crow 75.
Nearest the pins were Sue Parsons and Sue Crow.
Keep up that good form for pennant ladies.
This week sees our Annual Bowl being held on Friday and it looks like the weather will be fantastic for it.
A great opportunity to show off our wonderful course to many other clubs around the nearby districts.
Thanks as always to Cooksey and his team for their efforts in preparing the course.
