LAST Friday, Mansfield Primary School (MPS) held the second Father Bob Maguire 5Cs Camp Award Assembly.

Each year, the award is given to an MPS Grade Five student who demonstrates the core values of MPS (Inspire, Challenge, Support, and Make a Difference), as well as Father Maguire's 5Cs: Care, Communication, Concern, Common Sense, Compassion, and Community.

In 2023, Rohan Dent shared a train from Melbourne with returning MPS Grade Five students, who had just completed the Melbourne and Sea School Camp.

Mr Dent was also on his way home after attending the state funeral for Father Bob Maguire, a long-time friend and mentor.

After observing the students’ friendly, respectful, and positive behaviour on the train, he called the school and offered to sponsor an annual award for a Grade Five student who attended the camp and displayed these values.

This year, the award was presented to Addison Bertalli by Mr Dent and Mansfield Primary School principal, Nicole Salmon, for her kindness and patience with all students during camp.

The award included a trophy, plaque, and $100.

“She showed compassion, empathy, and patience at tricky moments and displayed outstanding friendship qualities,” Ms Robinson said.

“Addi was organised, responsible, and excited to take part in all the activities we took part in.

“She is an exceptional role model for everyone at MPS.”
