Residents of Highton Lane will be rejoicing come the end of July, with upgrades approaching completion after over a year of works on the 1.2 kilometre road.
The most recent work is an expansion on the original scope of the project with Mansfield Shire Council hoping the improved infrastructure will deliver a better result for residents and road users.
Reinvesting efficiency savings from the IMPACT Route project, additional asphalting and kerb and channel construction works between James Street and Mt
Buller Road were scheduled with planned completion at the end of the month.
"It may have taken an eternity, but it does look spectacular," said one road user.
The IMPACT Route project is also on track to be completed within budget despite the additional works on the Highton Lane being funded from that budget.
“With good project management we’ve made savings during construction of the Highton Lane upgrades," said Mayor Cr Steve Rabie.
"Those have been reinvested into further upgrades, getting better bang for our buck.
“By extending our upgrades all the way to Mt Buller Road, we will deliver a much better result for Highton Lane residents and road users.”
