AMONG the 80 registrations saddling up for autism is Ross Vinton.
A local and outreach participant with Mansfield Autism, Ross has signed up to ride and is currently sitting second on the fundraising individual leaderboard having raised $382.
He's been building on the riding skills he gained with Mansfield Autism's equine program, out on the trail with local operators and having lessons with Kim Owen at Mansfield Riding Centre.
"Saddling up is a way I can contribute to a great autism support organisation, because I have autism and I love horse riding," Ross said.
Local trail ride operators Hidden Trails by Horseback, McCormack's Mountain Valley Trail Rides, Watson's Mountain Country Trail Rides and Buckle Up Bushrides have also been out and about showing their guests the best of the high country over the past two weeks.
The mountains have thrown a bit of everything at them with snow, mud, sun, rain, fast flowing creeks and spectacular views, all while saddling up for autism.
Mansfield Autism's Judy Dixon said, "It's not too late to saddle up for autism – there's plenty of November left.
"However if horseriding is not your thing, it would be terrific if you could support one of the riders, many of whom are local.
"I'm tipping Ross may well sneak up into that top fundraising spot too," she said.
By Friday morning last week, 1727 fundraising kilometres had been recorded, generating $6472 in donations.
Hidden Trails by Horseback was leading the kilometres, followed by Northern Trail Riders, with local rider Alex Hince at the top of the fundraising scoreboard with a total of $1602 raised so far.
Mansfield Autism Statewide Services is a local, not for profit organisation that provides services for autistic children and their families from all over the state.
Employing around 140 people, Mansfield Autism is expanding to help meet demand.
Donations are tax deductible and funds raised go to Operation Gamechanger, the Centre of Excellence Therapeutic Care Farm currently under construction.
