ON Sunday afternoon, the Mansfield Eagles Football Netball club awards presentation and barbeque was held at the Eagles’ nest.

Players, coaches, family and friends flocked together to celebrate the 2024 season donning the blue and gold.

Ray Robinson commenced the presentation with a short speech about the club’s history.

"This year marks the 146th anniversary of the Eagles’ vote count," he said.

Then the netball presentations got underway starting with the U15s through to the U17s, B reserves, B grade and A grade.

The A grade netball runner up best and fairest went to Nelle Cousins and Darcy Croxford-Demassi took home best and fairest.

Coach Alex Ball said she is a workhorse on the court and is very strong in Wing Defence.

Darcy said she has played for the Eagles since she was in the u17s.

“It feels like my home," she said.

"I was away a few years, and since I’ve come back it has been great.

“Thank you to all the people behind the scenes, we wouldn’t be the club that we are without them.

“A grade girls - such a great season, many more wins than previous seasons which has been incredible.

"Thank you to all of the sponsors for the support and mum and dad who are always there every week, which is amazing.

"Love you guys so much.”

Senior football coach Jack Hutchins said it was a great season of football.

Despite some injuries and suspensions, the Eagles maintained a team of 14 players across the whole season.

“This is pretty unheard of and can only be taken as a positive,” he said.

The senior football best and fairest runner ups were Jayden Howes and Billy Hogan.

Best and fairest went to Brett Mahoney for a fantastic year of football.

“He relinquished some leadership title roles in the last couple of years and handed these roles over to our young leaders, allowing him to focus on his role in the team,” Jack said.

“He has taken his game to a whole new level; he epitomises a true professional in a sense of what he does to stay fit.

“He is someone that I’ve always looked up to in my career and it’s a true delight to give him this award.”
