On Sunday 27 July, the Mansfield community is invited to come together to celebrate National Tree Day — a day that’s all about digging in, getting your hands dirty, and making a real difference to the environment we all share.
The event will run from 10 am to 12 pm at the Mansfield Botanic Gardens, followed by a free BBQ lunch for all participants.
National Tree Day, first established by Planet Ark in 1996, is Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event.
Since its inception, Australians have planted more than 28 million trees, shrubs, and grasses, helping to restore native habitat, support biodiversity, and combat climate change.
Each year, the event brings together hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country in a shared effort to protect and enhance the natural world around us.
The event offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals, families, and community groups to take practical action for the environment.
The focus this year will be on planting native species that not only enhance the beauty of our local landscape but also provide valuable habitat for wildlife, improve soil health, and help maintain a healthy landscape for future generations.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own planting tools, if available, as well as a water bottle.
It’s important to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor work.
No prior experience is needed — just a willingness to pitch in and care for the natural environment.
“Tree planting is such a powerful and simple act,” said Jess Robinson, Project Officer at Up2Us Landcare Alliance.
“It brings people together, connects us to place, and leaves a lasting impact that benefits both people and the planet.
"We are looking forward to welcoming community members of all ages to join us for a fun and meaningful morning.”
Registrations are essential to help with planning and catering.
To register, scan the QR code on the event flyer or go to www.up2us.org.au/events.
