ON the morning of Thursday, February 25, Mansfield Girl Guides and Scout group helped deliver morning tea cakes from the Alpine Patisserie to all the Mansfield healthcare workers.

Each year the two groups get together to make lamingtons in celebration of Australia Day, and in doing so they collect donations from the community to go towards a fundraiser, this year the money going to morning tea for Mansfield healthcare workers.

“This year was an extraordinary effort, still with COVID restrictions and downpour of rain, the community continued to support the youth," said Jasmine Beekman, Scout leader.

“This year the youths decided to support a local business, Alpine Patisserie, to provide the most beautiful cakes for all our healthcare workers.”

The Girl Guides were unable to deliver the cakes with the Scouts, as they are currently grieving the loss of one of the Girl Guides leaders.

There was five cakes in total that were delivered, one was given to the Mansfield ambulance station, one went to Mansfield Medical Clinic, another to the Central General Practice and two went to the Mansfield Hospital, one for the day shift and one for the night.

“Thank you to the Mansfield community for supporting the youths,” said Ms Beekman.
