U14s Blue Basketball

THE sun was shining and the atmosphere was electric as the girls headed into their first game of the Shepparton Tournament.

Echuca were our first competitors and, with teamwork in mind, Mansfield came out firing.

A quick first few goals had their spirits high and with consistency and amazing passing the girls saw their first win of the tournament.

Next, we faced up to Rochester, with the heat of the day started to wear on the girls, however they never stopped fighting and their courage saw them go down by only three points.

Three games in one day is a big ask, but the girls showed up and took on Deniliquin.

Deni came out with amazing game play which had Mansfield 9 – 33 at half time.

In the comeback of the season, Mansfield stepped it up and fought back, stopping Deni scoring no more than five points in the second half, with the final score being 21 -38.

Even not coming home with the win felt like a success to the girls.

Our final game on Sunday saw us in a thriller with Rochester.

Mansfield was out to settle the score.

It was goal for goal the entire game and with 10 seconds to go we were down by one goal.

The ball was down our end and we shot, and it dropped, ending the game with a draw.

These girls use pure courage and determination to get through each tournament and it is starting to pay off.

We cannot wait to see what they bring us next.

Go Eagles.
