IT was hot and hectic at the Wodonga tournament this weekend, but brilliant to see the consistency and effort from the U16 Blue Boys side.
On Saturday they had a big win against the Shepparton Gators, and lost two other close games against Myrtleford and Bendigo.
In a semi final on Sunday morning they were pipped by Echuca by only five points - finishing the tournament with this stoic, hard-fought defeat.
A reflection on their stats showed that the second half was consistently better than the first half and that their total for/against margin was only six (80:74).
If they could plot the effort of their players it would have been off the charts.
The team saw a huge lift in their self-belief this weekend and are so glad to see it converting in the level of competition they are capable of.
Special mentions this weekend go to Sam Hough - who came to support his teammates from the sidelines while nursing a fractured ankle, and Gus Robinson, who took charge after charge and put his body on the line for the team whiling opening the semi with a sweet three pointer.
James Wellborne, Isaac Crowe and Judd Turner - whose rebounding skills are a superpower!
Taj Kynnersley, Sam Kynnersley and Noah Langlands - who displayed awesome decision making, attack to the ring and great hassle defense.
As always a massive thanks to our dedicated coach and assistant Mandy Kynnersley and Brad Kynnersley and all parents for scoring, supporting, and taxiing the crew.
They hit the court in two weeks time for the Benalla tournament and are chasing down their best result for the season.
Bring it on Blue Boys!
