WHAT a sensational weekend of basketball at the Southern Peninsula Tournament over November 9 and 10, for the Under 12 Girls Gold Team of Quinn Walsh, Scout Gadner, Macey Stevenson, Kate Mercieca, Tayla Mills, Sammi Nally, Grace Mitchell and Heidi Speirs.

With this being only our second tournament for the season, there was so much excitement leading up to this weekend.

We had a late start on Saturday, with the first game kicking off against Sandringham.

The girls were fired up and it showed in their incredible defensive pressure.

The Mansfield girls came home with the win 17 to 8.

The next game was played against Mornington, this game really showcased how far the girls have come together working brilliantly as a team.

They continued the intense mid court pressure and pressure with so many jump balls, leading them to another win of the weekend 19 to 3.

On Sunday, the first game for the day was up against Warragul.

Playing with high intensity, lots of running and supporting one another, we managed another win 16 to 1.

With a potential spot in the grand final in their minds, the girls were full of excitement to get going against our next opponent, Waverly.

Again, another great game where the girls showed how much they have grown as a team together, there was so many high fives, cheering and laughter.

Another win for us, 20 to 4, securing their spot in the grand final.

Only a short break and we were straight into the grand final against Ringwood.

The girls stepped up their defensive pressure and grabbed every rebound with determination they fought so hard, this was the toughest game by far.

With a nail-biting finish, the girls were able to secure the win, 20 to 18.

Making them the Under 12 division seven winners and undefeated for the tournament.

Special mention goes to one of our little superstars, Scout Gardner.

Coming home with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the Grand Final, as voted by the referees.

Huge thanks to the parents, friends and family that come along and support these girls, it means a lot.

Coaches, Nadia and Ben are so proud to see them working together as a team and improving on their own personal goals.
