LAST Tuesday’s Home Pennant saw the weather very ordinary with all games cut back to 12 ends.
Results on the day saw the Pink team have a great win over the White team.
The Lime team also had a solid win over the Blue team 19/4 and the Red team snuck home against the Orange team 9/8.
The final two games saw the Yellow team having a good win over the Gold team 16/3 and the Green team had a win against the Black team 14/5.
The ladder sees Lime on top with 14pts +39 followed by the Pink team on 12pts +32. Next up is the Orange team on 12pts +22, Green on 12pts +11, Yellow 12pts +2, White 10pts +8, Red 4pts –33, Gold 2pts –17, Blue 2pts –23 and bringing up the rear is the Black team on 0pts –31.
Tuesday’s Ovens and Murray Pennant saw Mansfield playing Dederang at home taking a great win 81 shots to 32.
John Foots, Noel Jackson, Marian Ryan and Irene Fuller were brilliant all day only allowing their opponents to win five ends all day winning 25 shots to 7.
Lyn Foots, Chris Laws, Mark Bettany and Jenny Walsh got away to a flyer leading 16 shots to 2 after the ninth end but Dederang began to find their green and by the 20th end the scores were all level at 21 shots a piece.
The last bowl of the day saw Mansfield sneak in for a lucky shot to take the win 22/21.
The final rink of George Peterson, Elaine Peterson, Brian Revell and Lyn Holland were all over their opponents from the get-go, only allowing them to score four shots for whole day, taking a fabulous win 35 shots to 4.
The ladder sees Mansfield maintaining top spot and will play Yackandandah at home on Tuesday.
Thursday saw the beginning of the Ladies 100up with the morning winners being Vicki Klein over Michelle Mios 102/70 and Elaine Peterson had a win over Belinda Snider 105/57.
The afternoon games saw Lyn Foots defeating Ida Rachelle 100/72, Glenda Revell defeated Renee Prosser 103/46, Yvonne Robinson had a win over Denise Storer 103/55 and Elaine Peterson had a win over Vicki Klein 103/89.
This Thursday sees Lyn Foots playing Glenda Revell and Elaine Peterson will play Yvonne Robinson with the winners playing off in the final in the afternoon.
Friday saw social bowls with 13 players enjoying the with the winners being John Lobbe, Anne Wileman and Michelle Mios with two wins 30pts.
The Saturday pennant saw the A2 2’s at home against Corowa Civic with a great win 96/67
Ray Robbo, Graham Smith, Sid Revell and Enid Smith were down early but by the 11th end the score was level on 12 all.
Mansfield kept up the pressure and won numbers over the next few ends to have a great win 29 shots to 17.
George Peterson, Elaine Peterson, Noel Jackson and Marian Ryan had a close game early with the score 8/6 after seven ends.
Mansfield picked up 18 shots in the next 14 ends to run over Corowa 26 shots to 11.
Mick Harrison, Peter Roberts, Chris Laws and Shane O’Brien battled hard early and managed to be in the lead after the 10th end 10 shots to 7.
Corowa won seven shots in three ends to take the lead 15 shots to 10 and made Mansfield pulled up their socks to score eight shots in the next six ends to lead 18 shots to 17.
Corowa managed to pick up two shots on the next end and with Mansfield picking up a count of one on the last end they had an very exciting draw 19 all.
Mark Bettany, Lyn Foots, Ray Close and Mick Hoban got away to a great start leading 13 shots to 4 after seven ends.
Corowa found their range and by the 17th end they were down by just three shots.
Mansfield picked up 11 shots in the next three ends to run away with a solid win 32 shots to 20.
Mansfield sits in 6th spot on the ladder and will play Benalla away hoping to push for finals contention later in the year.
The Mansfield A4 side travelled to Rutherglen and after a close game the home team took the win 75 shots to 63.
Steve Spence, Irene Fuller, Yvonne Robinson and Doug Morley had a close tussle early and by the 15th end they were only down by 2 shots 12/14.
Rutherglen picked up seven shots in the next three ends to lead 21/12 but Mansfield fought it out to the end to win the last three ends just falling short 16 shots to 21.
Rick Nichols, Kevin Nikkelson, Vicki Klein and Ross Parsons got away to a great start and were in control for most of the game leading 16 shots to 12 after the 17th end.
Mansfield lost the last four ends losing 8 shots to go down 20 shots to 16.
Winston Taylor, Gary Fuller, Tom Tomic and Ken Rainsbury had a close game all day with a single shot being the difference for most of the day.
Mansfield were down 11 shots to 16 after the 18th end but they came home with a wet sail, scoring 6 shots to nil in the last 3 ends, taking a great win 17 shots to 16.
The last rink of Graeme Tyers, Nick Klein, Don Cameron and Lyn Holland battled hard all day and with Rutherglen winning 9 shots in four ends it was a battle.
Mansfield dug in and by the end of the game they went down by just four.
The ladder sees Mansfield slipping to 6th spot on the ladder with plenty of time to climb back up the ladder playing Yackandandah at home.
Sunday saw the beginning of the Men’s Championship Singles with the morning winners being John Foots over Doug Morley in a great battle 27/20, Trevor Thompson defeated Rick Nichols 25/15 and Nikko defeated Peter Mc Neil 25/12.
George Peterson defeated Nick Klein in a great game 25/22, Mick Hoban defeated Steve Lewis 25/22 and Chris Laws defeated Alan Hatcher 27/16.
The game between Peter Roberts and Mike Harrison will be played during the week as Peter had State bowls commitments.
The afternoon games saw some great games with John Foots defeating Mick Hoban 26/8, Trevor Thompson defeated George Peterson in a magnificent game 25/24 and Chris Laws had a solid win over Nikko 26/10.
The catch up games will be hopefully played during the week so the event can be completed this weekend.
