LAST Tuesday's Home Pennant saw the Red team of Mick Walsh, Doug Morley, Ian Morley and Anne Tilbrook have a good win over the Yellow team of Graeme Tyers, Nick Klein and Peter McNeil 19/11, while the Blue team of Mike Harrison, Glenda Revell, Denis Sharpe and Michelle Mios had an easy win over the Pink team of Marco Bohren, Yvonne Robinson, Belinda Snider and Theo Scheltinga 24/7.

The Black team of Pam Zierk-Mahoney, Tony Pridham and Christina Smith had a win over the Gold team of Carolyn Close, Ross Parsons, Gwen Gray and Alan Hatcher 21/14 and the White team of Dom Diaz, Steve Lewis, Harry Smith and Brian Sinclair were dominant over the Green team of Kevin Nikkilson, Trevor Thompson, Renee Prosser and Anne Wileman 32/12.

In the final game the Lime team of Winston Taylor, Tom Tomic, Coral Tayler and Ida Rachelle got over the line over the Orange team of Vicki klein, Kathleen Bock, Lyn Holland and Jill Riley 24/10.

The ladder sees Lime on top with 20pts +49 followed by Pink on 20pts +37, White 18pts +27, Yellow 18pts +6, Green 16pts –14, Orange 12pts –7, Red 12pts –23, Blue 10pts –13, Black 10pts –17 and bringing up the rear is the Gold team on 6pts –45.

Tuesday’s O&M Pennant saw Mansfield up against YMGCR away with Mansfield taking a big win 77 shots to 37.

Lyn Foots, Ray Close, Mark Bettany Enid Smith battled hard all day but after the 21 ends, YMGCR took a close win 18 shots to 14.

George Peterson, Elaine Peterson, Chris Laws and Brian Revell only allowed their opponents to win six ends, taking a big win 28 shots to 10.

The final rink of John Foots, Noel Jackson, Marian Ryan and Irene Fuller got off to a brilliant start winning the first nine ends to lead 25 nil.

Mansfield kept up the pressure taking a fabulous win 35 shots to 9.

Mansfield remains in top spot and will play Club Mulwala this Tuesday at home.

Thursday saw the beginning of the Ladies Championships with round one winners being Lyn Foots over Glenda Revell 26/16, Vicki Klein over Michelle Mios in a close game 25/21, Irene Fuller over Yvonne Robinson 27/20 and Jenny Walsh had a win over Lyn Holland 25/19.

Round two saw Irene have a win over Jenny 26/12 and Lyn Foots defeated Vicki Klein 26/10.

The final will be held this Thursday morning between Lyn and Irene.

Friday’s social bowls saw eight players enjoying the day with the winners being Tony Pridham, Denis Sharpe, Ian Morley and Sharon Gysberts 20 shots to 14.

Saturday Pennant saw the Mansfield A2 side travel to Howlong and after a hot tough day, the home team took the win 75 shots to 61.

Lyn Foots, Mark Bettany, Ray Close and Mick Hoban got off to a promising start but could not maintain their form going down 15 shots to 24.

Mike Harrison, Peter Roberts, Noel Jackson and Shane O’Brien had a close game all day with the scores being level on numerous ends.

Mansfield held a two shot lead by the 18th end but Howlong managed to win the last three ends to snatch the win 19 shots to 16.

Ray Robinson, Mick Walsh, Jenny Walsh and Sid Revell had a good start leading 6 shots to 1 after the sixth end.

Howlong fought back to level the game at 14 all by the 16th end and finished the better to take the win 20 shots to 16.

The final rink of George Peterson, John Foots, Elaine Peterson and Marian Ryan had a close tussle all day and by the 19th end the scores were level on 12 all.

Mansfield managed to win the last two ends to take a great win 14 shots to 12.

Mansfield stays in sixth place and will play Chiltern away in what is the last game before the Christmas break.

The A4 side played Yarrawonga at home and after a close tussle, Mansfield took the win 86 shots to 68.

Graeme Tyers, Nick Klein, Don Cameron and Doug Morley were down early but dug in to take the lead 14 shots to 11 after the 16th end.

Yarrawonga won the next two ends to lead 16 shots to 14 but Mansfield hung in and managed to force an exciting draw 18 all.

Rick Nichols, Kevin Nikkelson, Lyn Holland and Ross Parsons had a nice lead after 17 ends 16 shots to 11 but Yarrawonga managed to win three of the last four ends to force a draw 17 shots a piece.

Winston Taylor, Gary Fuller, Vicki Klein and Tom Tomic had the lead after 10 ends 14 shots to 6 and kept up the pressure to still lead after 18 ends 23 shots 16.

Yarrawonga managed to win seven shots in the last three ends to cause an exciting draw 23 shots all.

The final rink of Steve Spence, Irene Fuller, Yvonne Robinson and Chris Laws lead all day only allowing Yarrawonga to score on seven ends to take a fantastic win 28 shots to 10.

Mansfield has now moved into second spot of the ladder and will play Swanpool at home this week to hopefully continue their great form.

Sunday saw the beginning of the Men’s B Grade Championship with round one winners being John Lobbe over Peter McNeil 27/23, Steve Lewis over Nick Klein 25/11, Mark Bettany over Rick Nichols 25/5, Mick Walsh over Brian Sinclair 25/10, Trevor Thompson over Alan Dobson 25/12, Kevin Nikkelson over Doug Morley 25/19 and Shane O’Brien and Denis Sharpe had byes.

Round two saw Kevin defeat Trevor 25/13, Mark defeated Denis 28/5, Steve defeated Mick 25/18 and John forfeited to Shane O’Brien.

This Sunday will see Shane playing Kevin and Steve will play Mark with the final to be played in the afternoon.
