LAST week's Home Pennant on January 23 saw the Lime team of Tom Tomic, Philip Jensen and Ida Rachele beat the Gold team of Carolyn Close, Gwen Gray and Alan Hatcher 22/20.

The Orange team of Lyn Holland, Kathleen Bock and Harry Smith had a comfortable win over the Yellow team of Graeme Tyers, Peter McNeil, Tom Ingpen and Elva Healy 28/16.

The Pink team of Marco Bohren, Yvonne Robinson, Belinda Snider and Theo Scheltinga had a good win over the Red team of Mick Walsh, Doug Morley and Ian Morley 23/14 and the White team of Dom Diaz, Steve Lewis and Brian Sinclair won easy against the Black team Alan Dobson, John Lobbe and Christina Smith 25/9.

In the final game of the day, the Green team of Kevin Nikkelson, Trevor Thompson, Renee Prosser and Anne Wileman had a massive win over the Blue team of Mike Harrison, Glenda Revell, Denis Sharpe and Heather Ingpen 35/9.

The ladder sees White on top with 30pts +68 followed by Lime 24pts +43, Pink 24pts +25, Green 24pts +6, Yellow 22pts 0, Red 20pts -13, Black 18pts -18, Orange 16pts -16, Blue 14pts -38 and lucky last is the Gold team with 10pts -83.

MIDWEEK O&M PENNANT

The Midweek O&M Pennant saw Mansfield playing at home against Wodonga with the visitors taking the win 66 shots to 50.

George Peterson, Elaine Peterson, Chris Laws and Marian Ryan were behind all day but battled it out to win the last 3 ends to go down 21/27.

Ray Close, Brain Revell, Jenny Walsh and Irene Fuller had a close tussle all day with the scores level on seven all after 10 ends.

By the end of the game, Mansfield moved ahead to take a great win 18 shots to 15.

The final rink of John Foots, Noel Jackson, Mark Bettany and Enid Smith got off to a slow start and were down early but clawed back to be down by just 1 on the 12th 8 shots to 9. Wodonga showed their class to dominate the rest of the game taking the win 24 shots to 14.

Mansfield remains on top and will play Dederang away, pushing to return to some good form.

SATURDAY PENNANT

Saturday’s Pennant saw the Mansfield A2’s playing at home against YMGCR and the home team a great win 96 shots to 47.

Mike Harrison, Peter Roberts, Noel Jackson and Shane O’Brien were down six shots eight after 10 ends but kept plugging away to eventually win the game 18 shots to 15.

John Foots, Ray Close, Mark Bettany and Alan Dobson shot out of the blocks leading seven nil after six ends and were never troubled by their opponents taking a massive win 30 shots to 11.

George Peterson, Elaine Peterson, Jenny Walsh and Marian Ryan began slowly but the scores were level on the 8th end 6 all. Mansfield began to take control and eventually ran out comfortable winners 22 shots to 14.

The final rink of Ray Robinson, Graham Smith, Sid Revell and Enid Smith were in front from the get-go and with only allowing YMGCR to win six ends for the day, Mansfield took a fantastic win 26 shots to seven.

Mansfield has moved into fifth spot on the ladder and with only two games to go in the home and away season, it is going to be a tough task to force their way into finals contention.

They will play Corowa Civic away this Saturday.

The Mansfield A4 side also played at home against Benalla and a great win 92 shots to 64.

Winston Taylor, Gary Fuller, Vicki Klein and Tom Tomic began well but only had a one shot lead after the eighth end 6/5.

Mansfield put their foot down and only allowed Benalla to win three ends of the last 13 ends to have a runaway win 24 shots to 10.

Rick Nichols, Mick Walsh, Kevin Nikkelson and Lyn Holland sprinted out of the blocks but Benalla fought back well to be down by just one after nine ends 9/10.

Mansfield lifted their game and with some steady play they took the win 24 shots to 17.

Dizzy Tyers, Nick Klein, Don Cameron and Doug Morley were steady all day keeping Benalla at bay winning 24 shots to 20.

The final rink of “Shifty”, Irene Fuller, Yvonne Robinson and Chris Laws got away to a flyer leading 10 shots to two after the eight end.

The tide changed with Benalla winning the next five ends to take the lead 13/10 but by the 18th end the game was all square on 16 shots a piece.

After a great tussle Mansfield finished the stronger taking a great win 20 shots to 17.

The ladder sees Mansfield jump up from sixth spot into third position and look forward to continue their climb this weekend up against Rutherglen at home.

CLUB EVENTS

Sunday saw the final of the Ladies B Grade Championship which had been postponed from a wet Thursday.

After a close tussle, Lyn Holland was crowned B Grade Champ against Yvonne Robinson 25/13.

Sunday also saw the beginning of the Men’s 100up with the morning winners being

Nick Klein won over Graham Smith 102/78 , Trevor Thompson over John Lobbe 100/52, Mick Walsh had a good win over Al Dobson 102/68 and Nicko had a win over Rick 100/58.

The afternoon games saw Trevor defeating Mick 101/75 and Nick Klein defeated Nicko in an awesome game 102/94.

The final will be played this Sunday against Trevor Thompson and Nick Klein.
