THE Extreme Cowboy Association divisional high points champions were recently announced, with a number of Australian members from the Mansfield Shire featuring in the honours.
For those who are unfamiliar with the growing sport, an Extreme Cowboy event challenges both horse and rider to manoeuvre through a series of obstacles demonstrating both horsemanship and speed.
Bridie Peterson and Hot Little Smarty became the 2021 Australian Youth high points champion, following up from Australian Youth Reserve high points champion and Reserve National champion for 2020 and third at the Extreme Cowboy Racing World Championships in Texas in 2019.
Bridie and her horse are a great team who continue to work hard in the sport, and as well as challenging themselves to learn new skills.
Celeste Dennehy and Sherbet became the 2021 Australian Young Guns high points champion.
Celeste has been competing in the sport for a little over 12 months.
Coached by Bridie Peterson of Ride Free Horsemanship for the last 11 months, Celeste has put an outstanding effort into improving herself, her horsemanship and her pony.
Kim Peterson and Ruf Hick became the 2021 Australian Novice high points champion.
Kim, who's the Australian club president, was also recently announced as a recipient of the Extreme Cowboy Association World Hall of Fame Award which was announced at the World Championships held in Texas at the start of November.
Celeste, Bridie and Kim will each receive the Australian high points buckle in recognition of their achievements.
Congratulations also go out to Australian Extreme Cowboy Racers club members who won high points reserve champions, including Emmeline Evans (Youth), Jason Smyth (Novice), Emmeline Evans (Intermediate).
Australian Extreme Cowboy Racers will have members heading off to Texas next year to compete at the world show, and all high points winners will be part of the group heading there.
