FOLLOWING the successful running of the Marks IGA Melbourne Cup Day Picnic Races, the Mansfield District racing Club held its annual general meeting on November 14 at the Mansfield racecourse. In her report, President Leanne Backwell acknowledged the contribution made to the club by retiring committee member Lyn Wright over the past four years and welcomed newly nominated committee member Nea Leydon. Tim Muller who was active in grounds preparation for Melbourne Cup Day has since also accepted nomination for committee. Mrs Backwell commented that it was positive for the club moving forward to recruit new committee members who possess a broad skill set and both Nea and Tim played an integral role at the November 7 meeting. The MDRC committee for 23/24 is as follows:- Leanne Backwell, President; Barrie Scott, Vice President (Life Member); David Roff, Treasurer. Committee members: Philip Corr, Jenny Delaforce, Nea Leydon, Tim Muller, Leah Scott, Allana Storer, and Noel Willaton (Life Member). The committee is now busy planning a fabulous day out for the whole family at the Mansfield Cup Picnic Race meeting to be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
