MANSFIELD'S Molly Lines has been selected to represent Australia on the Oceania Championships Young Rider team.

Equestrian Australia (EA) announced the selected combinations last week for the 2023 Oceania Championships, to be held in Hastings, NZL from the March 9–12, 2023.

EA expressed their congratulations to the selected combinations and their connections, noting that Australia will field one Senior team and one Young Rider team.

Molly, who has ridden since she was a three year old and has been out competing her horses since she was a five year old, will compete on her horse Tadpole.

Last year was big and successful for the pair, where amongst other accomplishments they won at the prestigious Melbourne International Three Day Event back in July, and Molly received a nomination for Sportsperson of the Year in May, all while completing her final year at Mansfield Secondary College

Her success is owed to many hours of hard work, amazing commitment and dedication.

Molly works very hard every day at training her horses, getting up at 4.30am most mornings to allow her time to ride, as well as have time for her jobs and study at the end of the day.

Molly's also made Nationals Team Selection for Victorian Interschools and Nationals Team Selection for Pony Club Victoria Elementary Dressage also on Tadpole.

EA noted that the selections were consistent with their High Performance Program's strategy for developing emerging combinations, and for the majority of the Young Riders selected in 2023, this will be their first appearance on an Australian squad.

EA High Performance Director, Chris Webb, congratulated the combinations selected for the competition against New Zealand.

"Congratulations to all of the selected combinations who have been named to the Australian teams," Mr. Webb said.

"The Oceania Championships are an integral part of the EA High Performance Program's Pathway, which supports athletes aspiring to represent Australia.

"Many of Australia's most successful equestrian competitors made their debut at an Oceania Championships and we remain committed to continuing the development of Australian combinations."
