PAUL Konig took on his biggest test yet at the Challenge Bathurst event which took place a couple of weeks ago at the drivers' Everest: Mount Panorama.
The event draws many of Australia's racing elite and people from around the globe, and provides an unrivalled challenge and an exclusive opportunity to drive on the Mount Panorama Racing Circuit.
Konig couldn't wait to drive his Mazda RX7 around the famous track, and spent the best part of the past few months getting his car ready.
In preparation, he did a few laps at Winton to make sure everything was running smoothly before heading to Bathurst.
After a busy day getting settled in and checking out the track, Konig and his team had an early start the following day, with scrutineering first up and a small amount of fine tuning before getting through the check with flying colours.
Then it was go time.
"The weather took its toll on the event this year, however, we were able to have at least one full day of racing on Thursday," said Konig.
"A few familiarisation laps before having more of a crack and achieving a best time of 2.35.1, reaching speeds of 270kph down Conrod.
"Got to be happy with that."
Konig thanked everyone who supported him in the lead up and on the day via his Facebook page and said he was looking forward to next year's event.
