ROUND 17 v MOOROOPNA
Under 15s by Maddie Clarke
Mansfield 29 def by Mooroopna 39
Best on Court - Ellie Marks
Coaches Award - Maddie Clarke
THIS Saturday the U15s faced a tough game against Mooroopna.
We started off strong with our defenders, Eva, Leah, Harper, Maddie.B, and Lily working hard to reduce Mooroopna’s opportunity to score.
Our midcourters, Ellie and Esher, moved the ball smoothly down the court to our goalers, Sienna, Charlee, and Maddie.C, who converted these opportunities into goals.
We fought hard and played a great game, but unfortunately in the end Mooroopna had extended their lead to 10 goals.
Well done to Ellie Marks for winning best on court.

THE 17s played their first and last game against Mooroopna, who were a tough and polished side that did unfortunately take the win.
Although, the girls went one for one in the first quarter with everyone putting on defensive pressure throughout the court; taking what they learnt from previous trainings.
Like always, the defenders outside and inside the ring were relentless, putting on pressure wherever and whenever they saw an opportunity.
The Cats defenders challenged our shooters with height, but that didn't stop them from working the front position to make it easier for the mid courters to feed in.
The Cats are notoriously a strong side, which made the girls feel just as victorious when they made such an impact in the first quarter.
Good effort girls, now let's make that last quarter our full game against Euroa.

MOOROOPNA welcomed us with sunshine and blue skies – spring is on the way.
B- Reserve were down this week with players out due to injury and illness.
This meant we welcomed up some under 17’s players who made a great impact on our game play.
Unfortunately, Mooroopna pulled away on the score board early in the game and we didn’t quite manage to catch them.
Despite this, it was exciting to see the Mansfield girls tighten up their play and tactics in the second half of the game.
Alex Duncan, Libby Ferguson, Caroline Trenfield and Alex Lindsay defended hard and created some great turn overs.
Sophie Goff, Eliza Doige and Brianna Weight worked hard and fast to funnel the ball up the court. Some unlucky intercepts resulted in a few too many turn overs of the ball in Mooroopna’s favour. Despite this, Leonie Berry, Tiarne Paterson and Sarah White put up some accurate shots against Mooroopna’s defenders.
We have made big developments as a team this season and look forward to rallying for our last game in two weeks time.

THE B-grade girls headed over to Mooroopna on Saturday to face the cats knowing it would be a hard match against one of the top teams.
With injuries riddling the side we were thankful for the group of u17s girls who were ready to step up to the challenge and fill in.
Despite the challenge all the girls came out firing.
Everyone was putting in their best efforts, working tirelessly to turn the ball over, hold our possessions, and convert it down to the goal end for the goalers to put up their shots.
All the young girls stepped up with ease, not looking out of place at all on the court.
Ultimately the Cats were the better team but the girls effort and skills couldn’t be faulted in the game.

At the start of the second quarter the eagles were roaring and ready to fight hard.
This quarter saw Amy Dixon-Rielly come out firing and dominated the attack end.
