THE 2022 Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships were held at Bundoora on Saturday, July 23 with a strong turn out from Mansfield.

The championship is run by Athletics Victoria and is the selection trial to represent Victoria at the Australian Cross Country Championships.

In the morning the All Schools State Championships saw Mansfield Secondary School and Steiner students tackle the most competitive race in the state.

In the U16 boys Judah Kelleher ran incredibly well to get 19th closely followed by Charlie Watts in 28th, both with massive sprint finishes.

In the U17 girls Adele Leon placed a strong 54th and in the U14 boys Tristan Fox came in 59th.

Coach Liam Delany was thrilled with their performances as the competition is so strong at this event.

After the mud had settled the open women battled it out with Amy Robinson claiming fourth and Brooke Williams 13th overall, the team finished 9th due to lack of numbers.

"If there's any ladies out there keen to run we would love to get you involved," said Delany.

The men had their best results yet with the Division 3 team beating the undefeated Yarra Ranges team, and the Division 6 team finishing second.

"This is exciting as the men's teams are in the running for promotion," Delany said.

An added bonus was the 40+ team coming in third, with some help from Liam himself winning his age group.

Next race is the Albert Park road race 10 kilometre with the juniors doing three kilometres.

"There's also a three kilometre family fun run and if you're not a member of Mansfield Athletics you can still run this event," said Delany.
