MANSFIELD Swimming Club hosted the Effortless Swimming Clinic on Saturday at our local aquatic centre, with 30 children participating in the clinic over the course of the day.

The clinic is tailored to help swimmers improve their technique and swim faster, and ultimately live a better life through embracing and enjoying an active lifestyle.

Four sessions were scheduled throughout the day, with each session an hour-long and dedicated to an individual stroke, with backstroke, butterfly, freestyle and breaststroke all covered.

Heavily subsidised and facilitated by the swimming club, club president Gemma Ferguson said it was a fantastic opportunity for our regional kids.

"It was an amazing chance for our kids to experience a level of coaching that is usually only accessible to kids in larger metropolitan areas," said Gemma.

"We believe it is very important to give our children this opportunity to develop their swimming.

"To be be able to bring it to our local pool and provide that guidance and insight in a familiar space is invaluable.

“We will definitely be running it again - it has been incredibly successful."

Gemma confirmed the clinic provides not just stroke analysis and correction, but also video analysis where children are filmed underwater.

"The footage with recommendations is then sent back to the club which we forward to each child and their family to better understand their individual technique and how to improve their personal swimming style," she said.

During the clinic Gemma said that the feedback from the children was that they were noticing a difference in their swimming.

"What if offers to the kids is it helps them in the pool.

"In competitive swimming they are more streamlined, improving their ability to get the best out of their stroke," she said.

"It was a fantastic day," she added.

"All our swimmers really applied themselves and put in a huge amount of effort, especially those who backed up for more than one clinic.

"A big thank you to our committee team and parents for managing swimmers and families, prepping and serving morning and afternoon tea and generally keeping the day on track.

"And to the awesome Mansfield Aquatic Centre crew our appreciation for helping us out, as always.

"We've got six weeks left in the pool and we're looking forward to making every session count."
