DELATITE welcomed Terip for their match in Mansfield, while Wappan hosted local opponent Mansfield.
Benalla hosted Creighton’s Creek and Euroa met Moglonemby last Monday.
Delatite included Natalie Bergsma and Fiona Lindsay into the side an entertaining clash with Terip.
Jo O’Brien, Pat Howard and Deb Mims gave their all against the top team. Combining strongly Fiona and Pat challenged in their set, got ahead and were unlucky to lose 6-8.
Terip’s Cindy Hayes, Bec Lyttle, Phoebe Macdermid and Jenny Martin were convincing in the other sets, winning 6/48 to 0/17.
Benalla’s Kate Campbell, Claire Sharp, Maureen Jewell and Julie Harrington were putting on a master class over Creighton’s Creek in Benalla.
They won 6/48 to 0/16.
Euroa’s Lyndall Bigland, Faye Mollison, Ruth Nolan and Mary Dewis did not let their opponent Moglonemby into the match.
Deb Seach and Lyn Johnson put up a fight in theirs, losing 6-8.
But Euroa had all the answers and defeated them 6/48 to 0/10.
The closest contest of the round was between Mansfield’s Peta Kelly, Amanda Steele, Sophie Yencken and Clare Beecham against Wappan’s Liza Karras, Jenny Bell, Kimberley Marsden and Rhonda Carpenter.
It was a hard-fought battle with the teams closely splitting the sets two each before the final pairs.
Jenny Bell always up for a lengthy hit, played in two tiebreakers, losing the opener 5-7 with partner Liza in a fantastic set, and winning 7-2 with teammate Rhonda.
Only one game separated the teams, when Peta and Clare won theirs 8-2, Kimberley and Jenny took theirs 8-0.
Exhausted players left the courts unclear of the outcome, but when additions were made Wappan won the match by one game, 3/37 to 3/36.
After Round 17 Terip has 120 points, Benalla 107, Euroa 101, Mansfield 92, Wappan 78, Seven Creeks 74, Creighton’s Creek 65, Moglonemby 38 and Delatite five.
With one final round yet to play, the final four is set.
Congratulations to the teams who have made the finals this year: Terip, Benalla, Euroa and Mansfield.
For a spot in the Grand Final Benalla and Euroa will play off, and Mansfield will take on the reigning premier Terip.
Terip has yet to beat them this year.
