SATURDAY, March 18 saw nine Mansfield swimmers heading down to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) to compete at the country all juniors competition representing the Hume Upper Goulburn District with five of them competing for the first time at this event.
Saturday was the semifinals with up to 80 swimmers in some events from all over country Victoria.
Mansfield did incredibly well with our nine swimmers competing in 34 events over the day, ticking off 14 new personal best times and clocking off 40 seconds of improvement across their 50 metre swims.
Lara Seaton knocked 1.5 seconds off her butterfly time whilst Reiley Gibney–Shelfhout got a new PB for his breastroke.
Quinn Harwood surprised us all with a 5 second PB in her 50m backstroke.
Five of our swimmers made it through to the top 10 in their event which brought them back on Sunday morning for the finals.
Sunday was a much cooler day for our swimmers with 10 finals between them.
More PBs were set with some fantastic results.
A huge congratulations to one of our younger swimmers, Edward Creighton (8) who took home a silver medal in the 50m freestyle, butterfly and breastroke and 6th in his backstroke.
Event newcomers Vivian Knight (8) came 4th in her butterfly, whilst brother Harvey (9) came 5th in butterfly, 8th in backstroke and 9th in freestyle.
Levi Seaton (8) finished 4th in his breastroke final whilst Kezi Wolfe (11) smashed her breastroke final finishing in 5th place, with only one second between 2nd and 5th places.
Many thanks (as always) to our incredibly supportive parents for their assistance poolside and in the stands.
Special thanks as well to Amelie Walker for stepping into her first coach/manager role at a big event.
This was an awesome finish to our long course season.
