THE monthly Mansfield Clay Target Club shoot was held on Sunday in sunny calm conditions.

Nine squads were made up from 44 competitors and the events were the annual Champion of Champions which was followed by a 20 Pair Double Rise Championship.

Competitors came from far and wide including club representatives from Alexandra, Benalla, Euroa, Wangaratta, Woods Point, Corowa, Melbourne, Yarrawonga and Numurkah.

The day kicked off with a 10 target Point Score eye–opener cash divide with the money in AA grade going to junior shooter Cameron Ford of Corowa on 30/30.

A Grade was split between local Phillip Desmond and Tom McGrath of Alexandra 27/30, B Grade was a three way tie between Woods Point representatives Chuck Lay, Kirsten Chinn and Mansfield local David Luelf on 30/30.

C Grade by himself was Mansfield member Callum Harris 27/30.

This led into the big competition of the day, Champion of Champions, being a mixed bag of targets over three disciplines totalled for a single overall result.

All three events were shot off 18 metres.

The first challenge was a 25 target double barrel shot off layout one immediately followed by the next stage on layout 2, 25 target single barrel.

After all squads circulated through, the last phase of the competition was shot as point score 12 targets of layout 1 followed by 13 of layout 2.

Combined event winners were, overall Tony Rohrlach (Euroa) 122/125, second in AA Grade local Rob Kirley.

A grade was won by Alexandra's Ray Whyte 113 over Marty McLachlan (Mansfield) 110.

B grade was a three way tie 113/125 requiring a 50 points shoot–off to determine the winner as Ryan Logan (Numurkah) 47/50 over Carson Weingott (Mansfield) 46/50.

Callum Harris made another appearance winning C grade 102/125, second was Grant Bethune (Central Wimmera CTC) on 99/125.

Following lunch the final competition of the day commenced with 40 targets thrown as 20 pair.

AA grade and overall was Tony Rohrlach 36/40 and Rob Kirley 32/40, A Grade Phillip Desmond 34/40 and John King (Euroa) 30/40.

B Grade Ryan Logan 44/60 and Trevor Newman 43/60 and C grade Brett Ford (Corowa) 28/40 and Ben Jones (Numurkah) 26/40.

Overall a great day was had by all with shooters and family members all participating to ensure a smoothly run day of competition with everyone chipping in with scoring, refereeing and generally helping out to deliver a smoothly run program.
