Delatite A Reserve took on Rovers in a grand final rematch on Saturday, winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

The decision paid early dividends, with Nick Hoskin and Noah Whittall bowling tightly with the new ball, Hoskin striking early to remove an opener.

The momentum continued through the middle overs, where Mitch Purcell and Sam Bell impressed, each claiming three wickets.

Lochie Pymer and captain Nathan Goodes added one apiece to round out a strong bowling performance.

While Delatite were sharp in the field, Rovers managed to add valuable late runs that ultimately pushed their total beyond what Delatite would have liked.

In reply, Delatite’s batting innings struggled to find rhythm, with regular wickets preventing any substantial partnerships.

Mitch Purcell worked hard for a well-made 28, supported by an unbeaten 12 from Lochie Pymer, but the side was unable to build the platform required for a serious chase.

A key positive, however, was batting out the full allocation of overs and showing resilience under pressure.

The team now shifts its focus to the upcoming T20 fixtures, which run through until Christmas.
